ALANIS MCNIER

Within my work I’m thinking about language like textures. It is grounded in the idea that society is a shared reality people create through their interactions. I feel the system of language is a major tool in how societies structure their shared reality. I try and embody these systems in texture. The pure silhouettes in form attempt to capture the structure to which the system creates. My material choices are derived from physical components that make up our society. These textures and colors puzzle together to form a cohesive structure that we can identify and place into our reality.
