KIERA MOLLOY
Metalsmithing & Jewelry
In her practice, Kiera Molloy explores spirituality and expression through
different materials and mediums. Kiera began studying jewelry in her high schooll
metalsmithing courses. As a means of expressing personal narratives, in her
early work she created wearables from a variety of mediums such as metal,
glass, paper, fibers, and ceramic. An interest in exploring new techniques
brought her to find the right materials to best convey her stories through
jewelry and sculpture.
Her close relationships with family and friends motivate Kiera to create with
loved ones in the front of mind. In more current work while at the College for
Creative Studies, Kiera continued to investigate new materials and
techniques, using technology and traditional techniques to further her
pursuits of visual expression.

KIERA MOLLOY
Identities evolve and how we like to be perceived by the world around us changes over time. Jewelry continues to be that powerful tool humanity uses to express or reject the perceptions placed on us.
Just as jewelry is used to adorn ourselves, historically it has also been used to honor spirituality. For me, growing up in the Christian faith, my relation to a higher power and the universe around me has naturally held great importance. As we have the power to change as individuals, faith and spirituality are subject to evolve. I view stages of beliefs as seminal events in my own history, worthy of commemoration and honor.
Through my work, I showcase the evolution of my relationship with God, the universe, and the divine power working within humanity. This body of work encourages reflection and questioning of beliefs that grow and change.
